Painting Table Saturday 22 + Hasslefree Conan

Painting Table Saturday, number 22! Thanks again to Sofie for this wonderful community. I look forward to seeing what everyone has got on their table each weekend.

Ok, something a bit different from me this week. I have an awesome Hasslefree miniature called Wolf. He's actually a wonderful sculpt inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan. However, he comes with three head options, none of which have long hair. So I did some sculpting myself with putty, adding a mane and headband. Given the high standard of Hasslefree sculpting, I'm not sure I did this 28mm miniature justice. Anyway, I took photos though the painting stages to show my technique.

I had hair like this in my teens.

Spray paint white undercoat, followed by flesh.

Back.

Front.

Brown hair, yellow boots.

Sepia Shade wash.

Keeping it sloppy.

Chestnut brown wash for flesh.

Plenty of detail pops out here.

Without the flash.

More washes, including Smokey Ink.

Sepia and brown washes. White highlights on fur boots.

Brush skin highlights with Citadel Elf Flesh. That pot must be over 20 years old!

Details are painted carefully.

Looking good. This will need a Matt spray coat.
