PTS 83 + Morgul Orcs + Lord of the Rings

Warband of Morgul Orcs. 

Edition #83 of Painting Table Saturday with the painting mostly happening on Wednesday night due to an amazing weekend at the NZ Festival of MindSports. Back in PTS #76 I detailed my Morgul Orcs project. This continued in PTS #78 as I gathered a regiment of Orcs for Lord of the Rings battle games.

Last night I finished the final fifteen of what is now a  thirty-strong warband of Morgul Orcs, ready for battle! 

I collected these over a decade ago from the Battle Games in Middle-earth series of wargaming magazines by DeAgostini and Games Workshop. Apart from the Captain and Shaman, these are plastic miniatures which I have weighted with standard washers beneath each base. I like heft.

These were a side project that I'm glad I've finished as I may have gone overboard painting eyes and teeth! However, they will look impressive on the tabletop.

PTS 50 + Orc Warlord Grunash + Wargaming Terrain

Forever Young.

Painting Table Saturday turns 50! Something old, something new. My wife and I celebrated 15 years of marriage this week, so there was really no time for painting.

Here is the mighty Orc Warlord, Grunash. He's featured in my D&D Blackhawk campaign and is a rather large fellow, converted from a 40k Black Ork which I bought with missing arms. It was an online auction purchase and I didn't realise it wasn't ordinary orc-size until it arrived in the mail. I have photos of the conversion and will post them when/if I find them. See if you can guess what he's made of.

Otherwise, there has been a quick flick of the brush on a handful of miniatures on the painting table. A couple of pre-slotta base Citadel Chaos Warriors are almost finished and my herd of beastmen is growing.

Inspired by +Chaos Convergence there is also some terrain construction going on. I hope to have some complete by next week.

Monday Night Game + Chaos Vs Orcs

A big game night with Rom (up from Gisborne) teaming up with Lewis, bringing Chaos to the gaming table! Phil and I defended our peaceful Orc village against the horde!

Plenty of fun using the Song of Blades and Heroes rules. Lewis supplied the scenario and terrain. Phil's goblin archers won the day, taking out the Chaos Lord with four well-placed arrows! I thoroughly enjoyed the rapid play and unexpected outcome of this game. An excellent example of eloquent rules and fine company making a great game.
