Painting Table Saturday 42 + Painting Orc Shields

Another excellent Painting Table Saturday with an example of how I paint rough and ready Orc shields in the tradition of  classic Citadel Miniatures from Games Workshop. These Orcs were a gift from Lewis after I painted these Orc Champions for his own collection of greenskins. Some of you may recognise the golden boy on the shield from a certain famous miniature painting competition.
While I wait for the PVA to dry...

...it's time to finish off these Orcs!

Planks: I always paint the wood before attaching the shield.

A blank canvas.

Underpainting with Ivory/White.

Background fill with Blue.

A touch of Yellow with Orange shading.

Highlights applied and final touches to the shield rim, etc.

To my fellow painters, enjoy your weekend and God bless you!

    1. Thanks Sean! It's fun to add a personal touch to each shield. I'll be posting some photos using the advice on your blog later on.

    1. Thank you Peter. I enjoy painting shields and it's a great way to add more character to a miniature, especially Orcs.

    1. Lots of fluro green, followed by washes of green and blue inks. Then dry (and wet) brushing with more bright green mixed with yellow for highlights. Thanks for your praise.
